Sheriff Bunny Welsh's Decision Not to Seek Re‑Election
A Message from Chairman Val DiGiorgio:
Upon hearing of Sheriff Bunny Welsh's decision not to seek re-election next year, I would like to take a moment to recognize and thank her for her years of dedicated and faithful service to the Republican Committee of Chester County and citizens of Chester County.
Sheriff Welsh has served as Chester County Sheriff for nearly two decades after becoming the first female elected Sheriff in Chester County. She is one of only a few dozen female Sheriffs serving nationwide and has been a trailblazer in law enforcement. In 2011, Bunny was elected to the board of the National Sheriffs Association, overseeing more than 3,000 sheriffs across the country.
Under Sheriff Welsh's leadership, the Chester County Sheriff's Department has earned countless awards and recognition for professionalism and service. The development of the K-9 Unit has been nationally recognized and served as a great benefit to the residents of Chester County.
Bunny's distinguished career includes a multitude of accomplishments and awards too long to list. Her commitment to good government and the community she serves is without parallel. I am proud to have worked alongside Bunny for so many years. It is a testament to her personality and work ethic that Sheriff Welsh is beloved by so many in Chester County.
I wish Bunny all the best in her future endeavors and thank her for her years of admirable service to Chester County.
