What Mooney wants for London Grove Township
Chester County Press 12/10/2009
Letter to the Editor:
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a letter concerning State Rep. Tom Houghton’s admission on Election Night to making false statements and assumptions to tilt an election in his favor. I’d like to thank State Representative Houghton for confirming that conversation in his rebuttal piece.
Unfortunately, the bulk of his letter was spent trying to marginalize me by making me out to be a party hack. People that know me know nothing could be further from the truth.
As far as an incident outside the polls in 2007 that he referred to, he apparently has me mixed up with someone else. In 2007, I wasn’t outside ‘working the polls berating him on the issues.’ I was working in an airplane hanger at the New Castle County airport, and like so many others, stopped by to quickly vote on my way home from work. I wasn’t a committeeman at the time, and having been to a total of only one township meeting, I admittedly wasn’t up on the local issues in the township as I should have been. I barely knew who Houghton was.
But please, don’t let any of these facts get in the way of a good story.
Apparently, Tom Houghton doesn’t know what “Mr. Mooney wants for London Grove Township,” so I’ll spell it out for him:
I want elected officials, Republican, Democrat, and Independent, to tell the truth. I believe the biggest crisis facing our nation today isn’t healthcare, the economy, or our insurmountable debt. It’s that American people are losing (or have lost) trust in their elected officials, and having ANY elected official making up or twisting stories doesn’t help. And I’ll take offense to that every time!
