HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason is concerned about the Congressional Democrats’ continued efforts to push government-run, taxpayer-funded health care.
“Democrats in Washington are trying to pull a fast one on the American public, but their latest ploy to sell government-run, taxpayer-payer funded health care will fail too,” Gleason said. “The Democrats’ attempt to move away from the politically toxic phrase ‘public option’ to a new term ‘co-ops’ is nothing more than a veiled attempt to pass through another form of government-run, taxpayer-funded health care that will cost billions of dollars and will make the health care system in this country worse.
“Democrat Senator Max Baucus’s plan to spend billions of taxpayer dollarsto create government sponsored health-care co-operatives would be nothing more than another failed big government program that would require billions in additional funding year after year.
“Clearly, President Barack Obama and the Democrat Party are looking for a way to get out of the health care debate while still being able to declare some type of victory. Whether the Democrats use the term ‘public option’ or ‘co-ops’ doesn’t matter- nothing changes the fact that both are government-run, taxpayer-funded health care which is bad legislation that the American taxpayer doesn’t want!”
